Head of Department – Lyudmila Volodymyrivna Fomіna, Candidate of Sciences (Linguistics), Associated Professor.

ACADEMIC ACTIVITY

The subjects “Business Ukrainian language”, “Principles of Psychology and Education Science”, “Psychology of Communication”, elective course “Social Psychology” are taught at the department. Practical classes and lectures are delivered in Ukrainian, Russian and English.

Since 2004, an academic activity of the Department has been conducted according to the requirements of the Bologna Declaration. The lecture course, teaching and methodical literature were renewed, bank of the multiple-choice tasks on all taught courses were established. The stuff is engaged in translation of medical literature from Russian into Ukrainian and from Ukrainian into Russian. With the active participation of the head of the department the books, manuals, guidelines, research papers, thesis in microbiology, neurology, pediatric dentistry, general surgery, internal medicine, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology and others were translated.

Each year the First stage of the International Competition in Ukrainian Language named by Peter Jacyk is held, the winners take part in the Second stage of the competition. Three years in a row, the teachers of the Department invited first-year students for participating in Festival of amateur poets.

Direction of educational activities of the Department is training of the bachelors and specialists in Medicine.

MAIN RESULTS OF RESEARCH WORK

The teachers are working on "Academic Ukrainian-Russian-English Dictionary" in Dentistry. Supervisor – Associated Professor Lyudmila V. Fomina. The aim of the research is to study, systematize Ukrainian terminology and to develop a number of publications in this branch.

The students’ research society works on at the Department. The supervisor of the students’ research society is Ph.D. Tatyana V. Skorbach. Each year the members of the scientific society take an active part in the student scientific conferences, they often sat prizes.

SCIENTIFIC COOPERATION

The department cooperates with the departments of humanities of KhNMU and other educational institutions of Ukraine, including the Department of Psychology of National Medical University named after acad. Bogomolets and Department of Ukrainian Studies of Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University. Together with other departments (biophysics, computer sciences and medical equipment, medical biology, parasitology and genetics, bioinorganic, bioorganic chemistry) an annual international scientific conference "Formation of the modern concept of teaching natural sciences in medical schools".
